Religious Obscenity
Many people have been enraged at the behavior of the Taliban and the way women are treated in many Islamic countries. I have seen much the same behavior among fundamentalist Christians.
And just so these people don't feel alone, we now have
Ultra Orthodox Jews in Israel exhibiting the exact same, disgusting behavior.
Although there are many fine people of faith in the world, this sort of behavior from a minority in every religion is an embarrassment to humans of all races and faiths.

Let your rep know!
There is an evil bill being rushed through congress right now. You owe it to yourself to read up on it and let your congresscritter know how you feel. The following is from the Justice Department concerning the bill:
" We strongly oppose Title I of the bill, which not only authorizes the Attorney General to pursue civil remedies for copyright infringement, but to secure "restitution" damages and remit them to the private owners of infringed copyrights. First, civil copyright enforcement has always been the responsibility and prerogative of private copyright holders, and U.S. law already provides them with effective legal tools to protect their rights....
Second, Title 1's departure from the settled framework above could result in Department of Justice prosecutors serving as pro bono lawyers for private copyright holders regardless of their resources. In effect, taxpayer-supported Department lawyers would pursue lawsuits for copyright holders, with monetary recovery going to industry."

Joe Arpaio, The tough-guy sheriff
Thanks to Jack for sharing this one.
Even if you do not live where I do, perhaps your area would benefit from doing what this guy has done! It's time to make our criminals Uncomfortable and hold them accountable for the choices they make in a way that they won't want to ever return to jail! Right? if you agree, read on....
TO THOSE OF YOU NOT FAMILIAR WITH JOE ARPAIO, HE IS THE MARICOPA ARIZONA COUNTY SHERIFF AND HE KEEPS GETTING ELECTED OVER AND OVER.
THIS IS WHY:
Sheriff Joe Arpaio (In Arizona) created the 'Tent City Jail':
He has jail meals down to 40 cents a serving and charges the inmates for them.
He stopped smoking and porno magazines in the jails. Took away their weights Cut off all but 'G' movies.
He started chain gangs so the inmates could do free work on county and city projects.
Then he started chain gangs for women so he wouldn't get sued for discrimination.
He took away cable TV Until he found out there was a federal court order that required cable TV for jails.
So he hooked up the cable TV again only let in the Disney Channel and the Weather Channel.
When asked why the weather channel he replied, so they will know how hot it's gonna be while they are working on my chain gangs.
He cut off coffee since it has zero nutritional value.
When the inmates complained, he told them, 'This isn't the Ritz/Carlton. If you don't like it, don't come back.'
He bought Newt Gingrich' lecture series on videotape that he pipes into the jails.
When asked by a reporter if he had any lecture series by a Democrat, he replied that a democratic lecture series might explain why a lot of the inmates were in his jails in the first place.
More On The Arizona Sheriff:
With temperatures being even hotter than usual in Phoenix (116 Degrees just set a new record), The Associated Press reports:
About 2,000 inmates living in a barbed-wire-surrounded tent encampment at the Maricopa County Jail have been given permission to strip down to their government-issued pink boxer shorts.
On Wednesday, hundreds of men wearing boxers were either curled up on their bunk beds or chatted in the tents, which reached 138 Degrees inside the week before.
Many were also swathed in wet, pink towels as sweat collected on their chests and dripped down to their PINK SOCKS.
'It Feels Like We Are In A Furnace,' said James Zanzot, an inmate who has lived in the TENTS for 1 year.
'It's Inhumane.'
Joe Arpaio, The tough-guy sheriff who created the tent city and long ago started making his prisoners wear pink, and eat bologna sandwiches, is not one bit sympathetic.
He said Wednesday that he told all of the inmates: 'It's 120 Degrees in Iraq and our soldiers are living in tents too, and they have to wear full battle gear, but they didn't commit any crimes, so shut your damned mouths!'
Way To Go, Sheriff!
Maybe if all prisons were like this one there would be a lot less crime and/or repeat offenders.
Criminals should be punished for their crimes - not live in luxury until it's time for their parole, only to go out and commit another crime so they can get back in to live on taxpayers money and enjoy things taxpayers can't afford to have for themselves. - Anon

Censorship in Boston
It seems the Boston free WiFi downtown isn't so free. Here's what one person found while attempting to use their network.
"Disturbingly, I could not access many government web sites that inform me of my rights and responsibilities as a citizen, the punishments for various crimes, or available government services."
You can read the whole thing at this MIT website.

The TSA is Dangerous!
The TSA is nothing more than a federal jobs program designed to make us feel like subjects of empire rather than citizens of a free state. Here's just one of the thousands of daily atrocities they perpetrate.
This woman was forced to remove her nipple rings with pliers to meet her flight.
I really wish enough of the US public would wake up and rein in the idiotic society of fear that justifies anything under the name of security.

I used to worry about this sort of report, but the idea of warrantless searches has become such an accepted part of our country, that I doubt if others are much concerned.
This discusses the possibility that
the NSA has backdoor keys to all recent Windows systems
. But don't worry; it's for your own good.

Redifine Privacy for US Citizens?
This
gentleman is testifying before the House
that Americans should not expect privacy to include anonymity. They're trying to protect the big communication companies from being sued because they have turned over private records to the government spies without a court order. I for one, welcome our new Big Brother.

FIREARMS REFRESHER COURSE
There is a price to pay at all times, especially for freedom.
"Those who hammer their guns into plows will plow for those who do not." ~ Thomas Jefferson
1. An armed man is a citizen. An unarmed man is a subject.
2. A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone.
3. Colt: The original point and click interface.
4. Gun control is not about guns; it's about control.
5. If guns are outlawed, can we use swords?
6. If guns cause crime, then pencils cause misspelled words.
7. Free men do not ask permission to bear arms.
8. If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.
9. Those who trade liberty for security have neither.
10. The United States Constitution (c)1791. All Rights Reserved.
11. What part of "shall not be infringed" do you not understand?
12. The Second Amendment is in place in case the politicians ignore the others.
13. 64,999,987 firearms owners killed no one yesterday.
14. Guns only have two enemies; rust and politicians.
15. Know guns, know peace, know safety. No guns, no peace, no safety.
16. You don't shoot to kill; you shoot to stay alive.
17. 911: Government sponsored Dial-a-Prayer.
18. Assault is a behavior, not a device.
19. Criminals love gun control; it makes their jobs safer.
20. If guns cause crime, then matches cause arson.
21. Only a government that is afraid of its citizens tries to control them.
22. You have only the rights you are willing to fight for.
23. Enforce the gun control laws we ALREADY have; don't make more.
24. When you remove the people's right to bear arms, you create slaves.
25. The American Revolution would never have happened with gun control.
IF YOU AGREE, PASS THIS "REFRESHER" ON TO TEN FREE CITIZENS.

Replace the Dollar with the Amero?
There is a plan afoot to merge Canada, the USA and Mexico into a sort of super EU and replace our currency with the Amero. Thanks to Denny for the following:
The protested summit expands the progress of a North American Union also known as the SPP ( security and prosperity partnership) in which Canada, Mexico, and the United States will become one known as the North American Community. Very little media attention and no public or congressional oversight or input has been allowed during this process of integration.
Critics of the Summit say Canada's water resources, sovereignty, and way of life is in grave jeopardy. Most Americans do not even know about the existence of the SPP let alone talks of replacing the Dollar with the Amero. This is mainly because of a media blackout on the subject. The little exposure that does gets mentioned in the mainstream media usually exemplifies what the Global Elite behind this keep saying, that these fears are unjustified. There are many Mexicans up in arms about these plans also.

Government Control of the Internet
If you aren't starting to get worried now, you should be.
"US senators today made a bipartisan call for the universal implementation of filtering and monitoring technologies on the Internet in order to protect children at the end of a Senate hearing for which civil liberties groups were not invited."
http://pressesc.com/news/78225072007/us-senators-call-universal-internet-filtering
This is only an excuse to control the free flow of information on the net. These senators want to establish the same sort of controls used in China to limit opposing viewpoints.
Malaysia is using
new anti-terror laws
to stifle any anti-slamic or anti-government commentary on blogs. This is exactly where we are headed in the near future.
Read these articles and then let your representatives know what you think of this sort of idea. If we don't start to speak up, we will lose the ability.

WHY THE GUN IS CIVILIZED
By Maj. L. Caudill USMC (Ret)
Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. If you want me to do something for you, you have a choice of either convincing me via argument, or force me to do your bidding under threat of force. Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories, without exception. Reason or force, that's it.
In a truly moral and civilized society, people exclusively interact through persuasion. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.
When I carry a gun, you cannot deal with me by force. You have to use reason and try to persuade me, because I have a way to negate your threat or employment of force. The gun is the only personal weapon that puts a 100-pound woman on equal footing with a 220-pound mugger, a 75-year old retiree on equal footing with a 19-year old gang banger, and a single gay guy on equal footing with a carload of drunk guys with baseball bats. The gun removes the disparity in physical strength, size, or numbers between a potential attacker and a defender.
There are plenty of people who consider the gun as the source of bad force equations. These are the people who think that we'd be more civilized if all guns were removed from society, because a firearm
makes it easier for a [armed] mugger to do his job. That, of course, is only true if the mugger's potential victims are mostly disarmed either by choice or by legislative fiat--it has no validity when most of a mugger's potential marks are armed. People who argue for the banning of arms ask for automatic rule by the young, the strong, and the many, and that's the exact opposite of a civilized society. A mugger, even an armed one, can only make a successful living in a society where the state has granted him a force monopoly.
Then there's the argument that the gun makes confrontations lethal that otherwise would only result in injury. This argument is fallacious in several ways. Without guns involved, confrontations are won by the physically superior party inflicting overwhelming injury on the loser. People who think that fists, bats, sticks, or stones don't constitute lethal force watch too much TV, where people take beatings and come out of it with a bloody lip at worst. The fact that the gun makes lethal force easier works solely in favor of the weaker defender, not the stronger attacker. If both are armed, the field is level. The gun is the only weapon that's as lethal in the hands of an octogenarian as it is in the hands of a weight lifter. It simply wouldn't work as well as a force equalizer if it wasn't both lethal and easily employable.
When I carry a gun, I don't do so because I am looking for a fight, but because I'm looking to be left alone. The gun at my side means that I cannot be forced, only persuaded. I don't carry it because I'm afraid, but because it enables me to be unafraid. It doesn't limit the actions of those who would interact with me through reason, only the actions of those who would do so by force. It removes force from the equation ... and that's why carrying a gun is a civilized act.
God Blessed America
